NORTH RONALDSAY- OLD BEACON LIGHTHOUSE represented Scotland as the third contender in the last BBC Restoration programme. The Dennis Head lighthouse on North Ronaldsay was built in the 1788 and is the oldest surviving purpose-built lighthouse in Scotland. The lighthouse needs restoration as well as its keepers' cottages The Grade A listed building was abandoned in 1809 and is currently unsafe. William Muir, chair of the North Ronaldsay Trust, said: "Dennis Head is an important landmark for North Ronaldsay and for Scotland. "If it could be developed and maintained for future generations, it would literally be a lifeline for this community." WHERE? The Island of North Ronaldsay, Orkney .

Standing Stone on Island of EynhallowIsland of EynhallowEynhallow kirk

UNINHABITED ISLAND OF EYNHALLOW Eynhallow, the island of the Finfolk, where no rat, cat or mouse could thrive. Just lies off the the coast of Rousay seperated where the roaring tides meets and men have drowned and some survived the roaring seas- this is a magic place to go. An uninhabited monastrey and a few derelicts with fantastic cliffs you can take a small boat but there is no proper pier. But really worth a visit as it sort of has a haunted feelingl WHERE? Reach Eynhallow by boat from Tingwall pier , Evie.
