Peat Bog Fair Isle

In 1951 a mans body
was found preserved in the peat bog in the Island of Fair Isle. He was
wearing fair isle knitted items and had a purse containing coins dating
back to 1681 and 1690. This discovery went towards proving just how old
Fair Isle knitting was - hence the name of this design.
