Voe Design
Designed by Judith Glue using shetland yarn spun from the natural undyed fleece from pure bred Shetland sheep that navigate the Voe cliffs in Shetland to reach the seashore to eat seaweed in the ebb tide. The breed is similar to North Ronaldsay sheep who are the oldest breed of sheep still alive in Orkney.
Both breeds produce a very distinctive wool and Sir Edmund Hilary actually wore a garment made from fleece from the Shetland sheep when he conquered Everest in 1953.
These garments are light weight with a Runic pattern on the welts and unique runic buttons on the waistcoats. The tunics and waistcoats have delicate curled welts and neckline.
