Orkney Runic V-Neck Jacket in Sea Blues £149.95
Judith designed this unique pattern in 1987 it was one of the first designs that she made. It represents Viking Runes or you could call it Viking Graffiti! Runes are found in the Neolithic tomb of Maeshowe on the Orkney mainland. Dont worry translated it simply says " Orkney" in Runic writing.
This jacket is handmade by one of Judiths Island knitters from soft Scottish lambswool and finished by hand. It has unique runic buttons, ribbed cuffs and welts with front pockets. The colours reflect the sea blues of Orkneys seascape and very often rough seas ! As in the picture shown taken at the Broch of Birsay in the West Mainland of Orkney.
Judith uses a fully fashioned method for making her collection and each piece is shaped by hand on a small domestic knitting machine then sewn together and finished by hand. When you buy a garment from Judith you are truly buying an item that has been painstakingly made in a home and not mass manufactured.
As Judith only has a small local team of six knitters and finishers, it is very diffecult to keep the full Orkney knitwear collection in stock. If we cannot complete your order straight away, we will contact you by e mail and let you know how long it will be to make up your order. Normally there is a lead time of around 3-4 weeks depending how busy we are at the time.
