These small Flagstone drop earrings in sterling silver feature two layered silver segments, which are hand-enamelled in our Orkney workshop. The design measures approximately 15mm by 20mm.
Sheila has always been very interested in geology, especially during her early years while studying at Edinburgh College of Art. Flagstones—or flags—have a unique texture and are used for fencing in parts of Caithness, with animals using them as shelter during the winter months. As the stones become weathered they acquire a beautiful colour and texture, and this aged appearance gave Sheila the inspiration for her ‘Flagstone’ collection.
