Layla's Craft Corner x Judith Glue Knitwear National Museum of Antiquities Scotland (NMAS) in Yellow Gorse Flower
This cushion is from off cuts from a design by Judith Glue and the colours and textures have been influenced by the the vibrant colours of the Yellow Gorse Flowers that grow on the moorland grounds of Orkney and the Highlands. These bright flowers only bloom throughout the summer time and add a bit of sunshine to the hillside. This traditional fair isle pattern is made with Scottish lambswool.
Judith originally designed this in 1987 and is based on an Original Fair Isle Sweater knitted in home spun yarns and hand dyed with flowers such as the Wild Gorse. This was exhibited in The National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland in Edinburgh where Judith found inspiration whilst In Edinburgh researching Fair Isle Knitting.
The pattern has recently been brought back thanks to a lovely friend of Judith's still owning one of the originals!
This cushion has all made in Orkney! Cushions are approximately 17" x 17". Available with or without the filler.
